Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, popularly known as Ilayathalapathy and Thalapathy, stands tall as a leading figure in Tamil cinema. Born on 22 June 1974 in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu, he is 51 years old and measures 5'10½" (1.79 m) in height. Vijay’s roots are deeply entrenched in film, with his father S. A. Chandrasekhar being a film director and his mother Shoba Chandrasekhar a distinguished playback singer and carnatic vocalist. Despite losing his younger sister Vidhya at an early age, the family’s passion for the arts shaped Vijay’s journey. He attended Fathima School and Balalok School before enrolling in Loyola College, Chennai for Visual Communication studies, later dropping out to pursue acting full-time. Married to Sangeetha Sornalingam since 1999, Vijay is a proud father of two children—Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha.
